What are the best bird toys?:The best bird toys are the ones that your birds uses. This often means that the toy will ultimately be chewed up and destroyed and that's a good thing. Bird toys that promote climbing, flapping and exploring also benefit your birds by providing opportunities to exercise. Our birds love activity center toys with lots of shapes and textures. Baskets of foot toys also provide a variety of items to enjoy or forage through.
How many bird toys should you put in a bird cage?:
Start with three to five toys if you have a timid bird or one that doesn't spend much time playing. If space allows you can add even more. Very playful birds sometimes play with more than one toy at a time. Rotating bird toys often helps to keep your bird occupied and interested. Remember not to take out his favorite bird toys though or he will miss them.
How can I figure out which bird toys my bird likes?: Experiment with a few different types or toys and different materials at a time to learn what you bird likes the best and then restock those toys. Try different sizes as well, just make sure they are a safe size for your bird. Some birds like dainty bird toys and others may prefer oversized toys they can climb all over. Even bird toys that are not played with provide a contrast to those that are and allow you bird to have freedom of choice which is a highly valued reinforcer for your bird.
